About the event
On the eve of All Hallows, step into an illumination of the Jungian individuation process as examined through the work of Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Haunted Palace." In this interdisciplinary session, we will discuss the descent from harmony to fragmentation, using Poe's verse as a map of the soul. The palace, acting as a symbol of the Self, demonstrates a psychic invasion of shadow and chaos. Through the Jungian lens, we can learn more deeply about how the Gothic imagination gives rise to deeper individuation by giving voice to the shadow, ruins, and unconscious hauntings of the psyche and invites us to move towards reintegration and healing. The lecture will end with a short guided meditation to walk the halls of your own inner palace where the inner shadow awaits both acknowledgment and transformation.
